Do you actually need an ATM?

Published August 22, 2025 by Chris Nichols

Plenty of people will tell you every business needs an ATM. It isn't true, and a machine nobody uses is a waste of your floor space and my cash.

Who gets something out of one

The places where my machines earn are the ones where cash still changes hands every day:

  • Convenience stores: lottery, small purchases, the regulars who pay cash for everything
  • Bars: tips and cash-only specials
  • Laundromats: coin changers and machines that don't take cards
  • Smoke shops: small tickets, lots of cash

If your customers pay by card almost every time, skip it. I'd rather tell you that now than pull a machine out in six months.

What hosting one actually involves

The machine is free to you, and so is the install. I load the cash and fix it when something breaks. You give it about two square feet near an outlet, and you get paid monthly for every withdrawal, with a statement showing how many there were.

If you already have an ATM from another company, bring me your last statement. If I can't pay you more, I'll say so.

Getting a real number

The calculator gives a rough range. For a real estimate, call or text me at (724) 264-8181 or fill out the host form, and I'll go over what I'd expect for your spot.

A few quick answers

Do I pay anything upfront?

No. The machine and the install cost you nothing, and neither does service.

How do payouts work?

Once a month, based on the split or flat fee we agreed on, with a statement.

What if my traffic is low?

Then an ATM probably isn't worth it for you, and I'll tell you that.
